Troy's Letter on Monday September 19, 2011

This week has been good, we had 3 lessons with Darrell Pittman this week. He is so solid and he cant wait for his baptism on Saturday. he is really glad that he quit smoking after 20 years he said that he has noticed a difference in his energy and everything he feels so much better, he was having a hard time, he was stressed and taking it out on his family. So we gave him a priesthood blessing and he said that he was relieved as soon as we said amen. i love the priesthood and how it works, im glad that i am worthy to hold it.

We have been teaching some less active people and also some other investigators that are flakey and dont keep the appointment time. it is frustrating but that is the way satan works. like colton said in his email sometimes i want to puch the adversary in the face. we did get a new investigator and it was a crazy story on how we met him. His name is Joe Duggan and we street contacted him on Saturday and we told him come to church tomorrow and he said i have been looking for a church so i will maybe check it out. So we figured it was going to be another person just saying that they might check it out just to get us away, but he actually came and stayed the whole block, than we had a lesson with him later and we committed him to be baptized and he accepted we will put him on date this week. but i love working with the lord and it the spirit. IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We talked to an investigator that Page and Bundy were working with and she is solid but she got Antied and that made us shake a little bit becasue she didnt tell us about it until the lesson i had with her this las week. but she said i dont know why that guy gave me that packet, what was he trying to get out of it. she just thought of the WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) she is great, her name is Toni and hopefully we can put her on date this week for October. There is also a family that Page and Bundy were working with that is less active but the 2 youngest are OAY (Over Aged Youths) and so the Kempton family all came to chuch yesterday and so we will probably put them on date again becasue they fell off date. they are a little flakey but mostly solid.

I went on exchanges on Friday with Elder Larsen, a missionary from the district, and we went to the most crazy lesson i have ever been to. he serves in the getto of Chandler and we taught this lady Guadalupe and she is a less active that is drinking and not coming to church and we went into her house that was only like 6 feet tall so i had to hunch my head if i was standing, and she was crying at the first and so that was akward but we went in anyways. she laughed and said watch your head come sit. well we were just going to tell her that she needs to come to church and help herself before she helps her friend become a member. but she was crying and i told her that she is disappointing us because you say that you are coming and you dont show up. than she felt bad and she promised us to come. so she said tall guy i will come for you we told her to come for herself, and so she asked if i would close with a prayer but the weird thing is that she held me hand while i said the prayer and kissed it during it i didnt know what to do but crazy woman. the best part is she came to church on sunday, she was drunk but came to church. there is a picture of me and guadalupe.

Yesterday we had the Mission Presidents Fireside and i saw everyone from Gilbert, Brother Slater, the Bowlers and also Elders Milne, Smidt, Koeven, and Williams. I also saw Meghan Brown my first baptism and she told me that i have to come back to gilbert she doesnt like anyone else elder Milne is boring with out me., i dont know if that is a good thing or not but whatever. Last night me and the roommies made some funny videos that i wish i could send you but i cant. but everything is going great, i havent had a seizure for 2 weeks thanks for the prayers i will keep you posted on what the doctor says to do next. because i am going to give him a call and see what to do. please continue me in your prayers.

Written August 29th

Hey Fam,

This past week has been really awesome, i found out on Sunday that i was getting transferred but you already know that. so i am now in Chandler it is awesome and my new companion is Elder Garfield and crazy news is he has been out 23 months this is his last transfer and so i will kill him. He is awesome and he is from Kaysville Utah another Utah companion. he is short and is really goofy so we have got along well.

my new address is 1120 East Bell De Mar #255 Tempe AZ 85283.

Elder Garfield is so excited that he gets a car and he gets unlimited miles because i cant ride a bike with the medical problems. This past week has been weird because i have been with my parents all week since Wednesday they are leaving tomorrow morning after we see the Bowler family. it has been a good experience for both me and them. it was also cool that i got the opportunity to go back to my old area and perform a baptism and my parents were there to see that. i had to get permission from President because it is not my area anymore. we have been contacting a lot of the people in my old area and it was great to say goodbye to them. we also went to the temple and did sealings it was a great experience, i did 4 pages of 5 names so 20 names of being a son. it was cool.

we had dinner with the Collins family and Lakin at Pei Wei we had a good time and we talked for a while after dinner it was awesome. they are really mad that i was getting transferred, as was i, but i am needed in another part of gods kingdom. we went to my old wards on Sunday and thanked everyone and told them bye and they were sad. i know that i will meet a lot of good people in chandler but i loved my first area because i was there for 6 months and also because it was my first and only area. The Laws fed us dinner on Sunday and then we had a lesson for F.H.E. it was a good last time seeing them. it has been a good week but it has also been a sad one. there is 2 baptisms that are happening in my last area next week and those were all my teachings so i am going to take credit for them. My new son, Elder Milne's new companion is named Elder Schmid. he is straight from the MTC and he is from Delaware and is short like Elder Milne. that is something he enjoyed being the taller one of the companionship.

There is a funny experience that happen on Thursday, the first day after i left the area. on Thursday night, Elder Milne has to ride a bike now and so he is not used to the heat and so he didn't drink enough water and he got dehydrated and almost past out. he said he was dizzy and everything was blurry and couldn't see. than that same night that Elder Koeven my old roommate got hit by a car on his bike and had to go to the hospital and get stitched up. it was funny because last week Elder Williams his companion told me that he needs to think about what he is doing or else he is going to get hit one of these times, and so Elder Schmid had a good first day in the mission field. i was gone for one day and this all happens, i guess i kept everything running smooth.

that was the week, but thanks for all the prayers and everything that you have done. we are on the right track on trying to fix my seizures. they are trying to make it so that i am on 1 medication that way they can see what medication is doing what to me. which one is making me tired and all that fun stuff. i have another appointment in 3 months, unless i feel like i need to go see him sooner and that way they can start taking me off the other medication. but thank you for everything i really am greatful.

Elder Tye
Parents Home safe and sound!

There is a chance that my mom can fly down in 3 months to go to the next doctor's appointment, we will just have to see.

Thanks again to everyone for your prayers and thoughts.  It really means a lot.

I will be posted Troy's letters on here every week, so you can stay up to date with what is going on in his world.
